According to Feuerstein et al. (2005), the insanity defense is derived from the idea
that an individual suffering from a mental illness may have his Men's rea interfered with;

Psychiatrists are therefore required in most occasions to testify in case their patient is
involved in a crime so as to provide a report of their mental state at the time the offense
was committed (Feuerstein et al., 2005).
In my jurisdiction, the documentation of services provided by a forensic
psychology professional has to meet a number of legal requirements such as
responsibility, confidentiality and privilege, relationships and competence. Forensic
psychology professionals are held responsible for their conduct and the conduct of those
that work under them. Their services, therefore, have to be issued and used responsibly in
a manner that is in line with all the required professional guidelines of their profession.
