A safety plan is a personalized, practical plan that can help one avoid dangerous
situations and offers the best ways to react when one is in danger (Aaron and Adam, 2008). This
safety plan will address safety measures to a mental condition; Schizophrenia.
1. What symptoms would a client with schizophrenia exhibit? What symptoms did Ted
Schizophrenia is a mental illness that has no simple tests to confirm and often hard to
diagnose. It affects a person’s decision-making ability, emotions, and thinking ability. Signs of
Signs of schizophrenia tend to appear during teenage and manifested through bad grades, too
much sleeping, or withdrawal from friends though it is usually hard to diagnose. The positive
symptoms of Schizophrenia are delusions, hallucinations, confused thoughts and speech,
different movements, and trouble communicating. Delusion signs are exhibited when the person
tends to think that someone is trying to control their brains through TVs or that there are people
trying to get them. They also tend to believe that they are famous actors or have superpowers.
They face hallucinations as they hear, smell or feel things that no other person does. They hear
voices in their head which warn them of danger or tell them what to do. They find it had to
organize their thoughts and speech as they are not able to follow through when one talks to them.
They also face trouble concentrating as they lose track of what is going on around them.
Moreover, they tend to show different movements over and over again. Some of the negative
symptoms are lack of interest in grooming; they tend to be emotionless or show no feeling at all,
they withdraw or become hermits, they struggle with their basics of daily life and usually are not
able to finish what they have started. Ted had bizarre delusions, he felt controlled by external and
invisible agents, he had death wishes and suicidal thoughts, had paranoid fears of being
murdered, and once became afraid ...
