Evolution of RFID
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a system technology of radio waves that can be

used to read and capture or retrieve information that is stored in a tag. The tag can be attached to
an object, and it can be understood from up to several feet away. In this type of technology, the
tags are stationary, and readers can be intangible objects. It is a wireless communication that has
made the world to be a smaller place to live in. The evolution of RFID system come from the
second world war where British used planes put transmitters which received signs from radar
stations on the ground as well as broadcasted back the signal to identify the aircraft(Sharma, S.
2011). RFID has grown since then; it has been used from aerospace to logistics to football also
among other sectors.
RFID is an automatic subset identification and data capture technologies where the
advancements in different applications of this technology are still emerging from various
