Two hundred people apply for two jobs. Sixty of the applicants are women. If two persons are selected at random, what is the probability that both are women?

number of ways of selecting  two women from 60 women = 60 C 2 = 60 x 59/2! = 1770

number of ways of selecting  two persons from 100 = 100 C 2 = 100 x 99/2! = 4950

Hence probability that both are women = 1770/4950 =177/495 = 0.358 approximately
