Consumer Protection

In the 20th and 21st century, consumer protection laws have proliferated.

Do you think that these laws have become overly burdensome for businesses to comply with?

Please identify specific statutes and/or regulations to support your argument.

I think some of the laws have become overly burdensome to businesses.For example:-

The Truth in Lending Act which states that traders can't bill you more than 50 dollars for unauthorized charges made to that card. This law protects consumers who could have defaulted in payment.


Fair debt collection act which bars debt collectors from using unfair and deceptive practices to collect overdue bills. This law also protects consumers who don't pay their bills at the expense of businesses. Such a law could be detrimental to businesses that sell products to consumers on credit.

The above laws are example of how far laws have gone to protect consumers while businesses suffer on the other hand.
