Isn't perimeter= 2(length) + 2(width)

so it would be 

2(3x)+2x=48

6x +2x=48

8x=48

x=6?

oh, i missed the 2. 2(3x+x)=48

8x=48

x=6,

then the area will be 3(6)*6=108.

108 is what I got for the answer. However, 108 is not one of the answer options. According to the study guide answer sheet, the answer is 60. That is where I'm confused.
