What is the main causes, consequences of modern slavery? How is it compared to the old slavery and what are some possible ways to eradicate modern slavery?

The main cause of slavery is poverty and poor living standards among the citizens. The consequences of modern slavery include;hatred among people,lacks of motivation and continued vicious cycle of poverty.Examples of modern slavery are marital and sexual slavery,child labor,serfdom and bonded labor

Stringent and strict government policies and laws should be passed and enforced against slavery

Modern slavery differs from historical slavery in several ways:

  • There are more slaves than ever before, but they are a smaller proportion of the human race
  • No-one seriously defends slavery any more
  • Slavery is illegal everywhere and so requires corruption and crime to continue. The power of the slave owner is always subject to the power of the state; slavery can only continue to exist if governments permit it to, and some writers claim that government corruption is a leading cause of the persistence of slavery
