There are 5 positions available in the new school. Of the applicants, 12 are men and 8 are women.

What is the probability that 5 men are selected if they are randomly picked?

Total number of positions = 5

Total number of applicants = 20

Total number of men = 12

5 applicants can be selected out of 20 applicants in 20C5 ways   .................(C represents COMBINATIONS)

5 men can be selected out of 12 men in 12C5 ways

Therefore, probability that 5 men are selected = 12C5 / 20C5

Probability = 792 / 15504 = 99/1938 = 0.051

I do not know the answer, these are the choices 33/646, 4/5, 9/70

Alright, that very simple.

The answer that I have provided above is 99/1938

divide the numerator and denominator by 3, you will get 33/646

So, the explanation given above is correct and answer is 33/646
