2x - y = 11

x + 3y = -5

Just subtract the second from the first :)

x - 4y = 16

x = 4y + 16

Substitute x into the first equation:

2(4y + 16) -y = 11

8y + 32 -y= 11

7y = -21

y = -3

x + 3(-3) = -5

x - 9 = -5

x=4 :)
