Introduction

Business intelligence (BI) leverages systems and software to transform statistics into
intelligence that are actionable to inform a corporation’s tactical and strategic business decisions.
BI tools analyze access data sets, present logical findings in summaries, reports, charts, maps,
reports, and dashboards to provide users with comprehensive intelligence concerning the state of
the business. Corporations also utilize BI in the identification of new business opportunities;
reduce costs, and re-organizing processes of businesses which may be inefficient. Business
intelligence is a technique driven by technology, and it is composed of activities such as online
analytical processes, data roaming, and querying (Larson & Chang, 2016). The benefits of BI
programs include: identifying market trends, driving new revenues, optimizing internal business
operations, driving new revenues, and increasing efficiency of processes. Utilizing BI tools and
systems can assist users to analyze the data themselves instead of waiting for IT department
personnel to run complex reports. The software systems of BI provide predictive, historical, and
current views of business processes, often using information that has been collected into a data
warehouse.
Data Governance and its Importance to a Company
Data governance (DG) is the general management of the integrity, security, and usability
of data in an enterprise. A governance program that is good includes a governing council and
body, a set of procedures that are defined and technique of how to execute those procedures. The
initiative cover issues such as assigning employees responsibility of being accountable for
information assets, storing records securely, restricting and granting access to data as needed, the

backing of documents properly, maintenance of statistics consistently and accurately, and
statistics protection from external and internal threats. Rules of governance concerns with any
action that relates to the data of a company.
Data governance council (DGC) members are in charge of decisions involving data, the
people that create the policies that concern information. The committee should be functional
throughout a firm, including workers from various departments of the organization. The action
ensures that every individual who is accessing organization’s statistics are represented. C-suite
executive's role is to enforce new policies and explaining their effects on the business model to
the stakeholders of the company. The data governance affects the executors because they also
