A student standing on a train station observes that the pitch (frequency) of the train decreases from 933.6 Hz to 918.6 Hz as it travels past the student at a constant speed. What is the speed of the train? Assume that the velocity of sound is 330.0 m/s

f1 = c/(c-Vs) f0

when the train leaving 

f 2= c/(c+Vs) f0

f1/f2 = 933.6/918.6 = (1+Vs/c)/(1-vs/c) = 1.01633

2.01633 Vs/C = 0.01633 

Vs = 0.01633*C/2.01633 = 2.67 m/s
