I believe that its the family's job to take care of older Americans. Like the way they had cared for us when we were kids and supported us even during adulthood, it is our moral and social responsibility to care for them. Having said that, it is also necessary for the government to create required facilities so that in any unfortunate event, old people can be supported. These people once were part of work force who served the country in their own way. A lot of public service and facilities that we have are there because once today's older people worked to create this economy.
Hence the primary responsibility to take care of older Americans is of families. But the government should also create parallel facilities for the situations where families are not or can not take up the this responsibility.
