"Ozone. Can't live with it, can't live without
it." Explain why this statement is correct, citing facts about the various
processes, types of radiation involved, sources, environmental and health effects,
and the chemicals involved to support your explanation. Use the terms stratosphere and troposphere in your response.
Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
ozone. Can't live with it because it is a highly oxidizing isotope of oxygen. if its present in the boundary layer that is the lower part of troposphere, it'll oxidize all the gases as well as causes harm to living organisms (human, animals and plants).
Breathing ground-level ozone can result in a number of health effects
that are observed in broad segments of the population. Some of these effects
Induction of respiratory symptoms
Decrements in lung function
Inflammation of airways
Ozone. Can't live without it because it plays an important role if present in stratosphere. it absorbs maximum UV radiations(mostly UVB and UVC and small amount of UVA) and stops them to reach the Earth's surface. if all these radiations reach the Earth's surface they can cause severe health problems.
it is form in the stratosphere when the UV radiations strike with the oxygen molecules, the reaction is shown below;
O2 + ℎνuv → 2O
O + O2 ↔ O3
