Time of fall through a height of 0.06m can be found from the formula

h = ut + 0.5 gt^2 [u (initial velocity of bob)= 0], t = sqrt(2gh)

thus t= sqrt(2*9.8*0.06) = 1.0844 seconds

2. conservation of energy when the bullet+pendulum swing to the top is then calculated.


V = h/t = d/sqrt(2gh

Initial velocity, to cause combined velocity V of mass M+m would be;
v = (M+m)V / m = (M+m) h / m sqrt(2gh)

v = (0.896kg +0.088kg) V/0.88kg= (0.896kg +0.88kg) h/0.088kg*1.0844sec
