Place the long-grain rice into a sauce pan and run under cold water. Stir the rice in the water with your hands as if ‘cleaning’ it. Drain water away and repeat this process twice more. You’ll notice the water will become clearer each time you drain it away.
Now fill the sauce pan with 400 ml clean water, it should measure approximately half more in quantity than the rice.
Bring water to the boil on high heat, there is no need to stir at all.
Then on low heat, cover the pan with a lid and simmer the rice for 15-20 minutes. You do not need to stir or uncover the lid during this time.
After this time you should have perfectly cooked boiled rice. Fluff it up with a fork and serve or use to cook our rice recipes.
