  • Given any sequence, how can you determine if it is an arithmetic sequence?
Jul 2nd, 2015

For a1, a2, a3, a4..............to be an arithmetic sequence

a2-a1 = a3-a2 = a4-a3  etc.

For example, if we have the sequence  5, -3, -11, -19...........

so -3-5 = -8

Similarly -11- -3 = -8

-19 - -11 = -8

Hence the sequence is an arithmetic sequence

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
