nutritional practices in agriculture have changed significantly. genetics being selected for agriculture are those for maximizing sugar content and resistance to pests. all this decrease soil quality and the vegetables and fruits grown are less nutritious compared to 50 years ago. nowadays, most of the food that people eat has to travel thousands of miles around the world before reaching their plates, which decreases the nutrient content further.
