Introduction
Parole is an alternative sentencing method whereby the convicted offender does not go to
jail. However, the offender is normally supervised and should meet up with the probation member
on a regular basis. During this period the behavior of the offender is normally monitored by the
probation officer. In cases where the offender violates the parole, he or she risks been sent to jail.
