Introduction

I support the idea that Marijuana has therapeutic potential due to its efficacy in
treating some of the acute and chronic conditions. Even though additional research have filled
in some of the gaps, inconclusive and conclusive outcomes create a challenge for physicians.
There are many pro and con to the question "should Marijuana be a medical option."
Pro of Health Risks of Smoking Marijuana
There exists minimal proof that smoking marijuana poses a substantial health risk.
There have been no reported cases of emphysema or cancer of the lungs caused by marijuana
despite being smoked intensively in the Western countries for more than forty years. I,
therefore, think that a day's breathing in any town with poor air circulation poses a higher risk
than breath in a day's dose, which for many diseases is just a share of a joint- of marijuana
(Langley, 2019 pg. 11). I selected this reason because marijuana effects health and most of
the health effects are confused to those of cigarette.
Con of Health Risk of Smoking Marijuana
Smoking marijuana just like tobacco irritates the lungs and throat and can lead to a
heavy cough when used. Cannabis has harmful particles and gases that cause harm to the
lungs. Chronic bronchitis, massive airway inflammation, lung hyperinflation, and increased
airway resistance are some of the effects associated with smoking marijuana. It can also lead
to respiratory infections like pneumonia due to reduced respiratory system immune response.
Frequent marijuana smokers may experience more sick days compared to normal individuals
who are not using them due to respiratory illness.
Pro of Marijuana offering a “getaway." effect
The immense majority of individuals who smoke marijuana never develop an urge for
other illegal drugs or even adopting to be regular marijuana consumers. The prime link

between illicit drugs and marijuana mostly lies on the nature of the market. Marijuana use is
less rampant in the United States than in the Netherlands where the marijuana market has
been declared illicit and regulated for many years. Those who use marijuana in the U.S are
less likely to use other illegal drugs. Most important proof at the moment suggests that the
spread of medical marijuana laws and dispensaries around the U.S is highly related with
fewer people from overdoses associated with a small number of people dying from excessive
uptake of pharmaceutical opioids and heroin. The most likely reason is that individuals find
marijuana more useful than opioids in managing diverse kinds of pain. I selected this premise
because there has been debate in many countries whether to legalize marijuana or not. I am
on the opinion that the only significant risk of legal...
