Introduction
The concept of legalizing drugs has been adopted by some countries with the most recent
country being Canada. The United States of America has also been part of drug legalization,
though being cautious and selective on the drugs it legalizes. Marijuana, for example, has been
the most common drug to be advocated for legalization. Following multiple claims of its
medicinal value and other supportive claims, the government has made the drug legal and set
some rules governing its use. This has had a profound impact on the economy of the country as a
whole and the states leading in its use. Generally, the legalization of marijuana has impacted the
economy of the USA positively. However, due to excessive usage by some users, the economy
tends to retrogress in respect to unavailable labor, multiple health issues, increased incidences of
theft and crime, and other incidences such as school drop-out among the teenagers.
