Arginine, glutamate, glutamine, histidine and proline can enter the citric acid cycle as α-ketoglutarate. α-ketoglutarate can be used to produce succinate by the loss of carbon dioxide and then converted to succinyl CoA. Calculate the free energy change (ΔG◦) and Keq, when this reaction is coupled with the reduction of NAD+.
