Mary is six years older than little Timmy. Jane is exactly twice Timmy's age. The sum of all three is 34. Find the age of MARY

I think the question is the about the age of Timmy and not Mary. Let the age of Timmy be 'x'

x+6+x+2x = 34

4x+6 = 34

4x =28

x = 28/4 = 7

Note: So mary's age = 13 and Jane's age = 14

Given the sum of the ages = 34

so  

x+6+x+2x = 34

4x+6 = 34

4x =28

x = 28/4 = 7
