what I have so far....

A major principle instilled in me while growing up was giving back and helping others. Around the age of 8 or 9 I started to volunteer in food pantries at my church. I would also volunteer in toy drives and help my grandmother assist patients when she worked at a nursing home. I truly enjoyed helping others and seeing their face light up as I serviced my community. It brought me joy to make their life just a little bit easier. As I reflect on my highschool years I find that I made less time to help others and make a difference in my community. I’ve have recognized this decided to act on it. . This study abroad program gives me a chance to do what I want but on a larger scale. This provides me with an opportunity to go to another country and help others who are in need. My mother always told me as you move forward in life you always have to reach back and help others up, that is something that I live by. I want to be the kind of professional that is not self absorbed with my own success, but the success of others as well. This program will add to my character and the morals that I carry with me throughout life.

Throughout this trip I will be not only serving the communities of Costa Rica but I will be immersed in the Spainish language and culture which is beneficial to me since I am a minor in Spanish at school. I believe in order to succeed in life people have to be well-rounded and be immersed in the language will offer me the opportunity to be fluent in another language. Being in an environment that I have never been in before will help build my character
