Champions of Land about Early Environmentalism
The United States of America spearheaded the battle to environmental conservation as
opposed to environmental exploitation for its survival through a unique way and by a handful of
visionaries. In the movie, Champions of land about early environmentalism the following

Muir founded the Sierra Club in the year 1892 which is an environmental organization club that
advocates for protection and preservation of public land. Muir and Pinchot battled in early 1900
because of Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite Park. Pinchot advocated for conservation where
federally owned land should not only be used for recreation but also mining, industry lodging
and extensive research whereas Muir promoted total environmental conservation.
Hetch Hetchy Reservoir is owned by San Francisco and is used to provide water through
private utilities and water districts to over 3 million people in the San Francisco Bay area. Muia’s
