Individuals can experience trauma from public events at the national level or extremely private ones at the interpersonal level. In this Discussion, you analyze these two types of trauma, describing potential interventions and their effectiveness. To prepare: Read the DSM-5 section on trauma and stressor-related disorders and review the Learning Resources on PTSD, disaster response, and trauma. Then search the literature for studies related to an evidence-based intervention used to treat those suffering from trauma and stressor-related issues. Specifically, locate the following: One study on treating symptoms resulting from a national traumatic event (e.g., natural disaster, mass shooting) One study on treating symptoms resulting from an interpersonal trauma (e.g., rape, childhood sexual molestation, domestic violence) By Day 3 Post a response in which you address the following: Post the APA references for the two studies you located. Provide a brief description of the traumatic events, including a summary of how they affected the individuals involved. The purpose of this essay is to encourage students to think critically about the complexity of official justifications for imperialism and to explore how these rationales could support or contradict one another.Task:For this essay, you will draw on the primary source documents linked below, especially the section entitled “Motives and Attitudes,” to explain the arguments European elites gave for their imperial projects at the end of the nineteenth century. We encounter and react to situations every day, and those responses are dictated by emotional and stress responses. Researchers have developed three main theories of emotion, and these could be summarized by saying we experience a stimulus and the associated emotions at the same time (Cannon-Bard), changes in the body cause emotions (James-Lange), or cognitive factors interact with both emotions and changes in the body (Schachter and Singer). There is research that supports and contradicts all three of these theories, and they do not have to be mutually exclusive. Consider these theories and apply them to a recent situation in your own life. You will then describe the brain basis of an emotion. Finally, you will consider stress resilience and how an individual might become more resilient to stressors.
