Bonus Book Review Optional Assignment Can earn up to 5% increase in your grade (Suggested length - whatever it takes to do a good job; probably 1-3 pages.) I do not want a simple summary of a book. That is NOT what this book review assignment is about. I want you to really think about the book you read and share your thoughts about the book. A thorough book review will briefly summarize the ideas of the book, but focus on your opinion about the book's merits or where it falls short - it is a critical analysis of the book. "Critical' does not imply that you are going to be mean or harsh in your review or opinions. It means that you are going to evaluate objectively whether the author(s) have fulfilled their objectives in the book, and whether they wrote well enough for them to get some message or theme across to the reader without being to obvious about it. Did you find the book engaging? Persuasive? Did you agree with it? Did you enjoy it? Would you recommend it to others? If so, who would like the book? What is the intended audience of the book? Does it succeed in reaching this audience? What could have been better? Work hard on making your book review very readable to a general audience - it should flow well and be written nicely. You should have an introduction, discussion of the book, and clear conclusion (although these don't have to be broken into explicit sections -you can write this like an essay). Include: (1) The title and author of the book you are reviewing (2) The author's objective(s) and audience (3) How believable or likable is the protagonist and/or antagonist (4) Your evaluation of the author's writing style (provide examples) (5) Your evaluation of the author's success with his/her objectives in communicating a theme throughout the book (provide examples) (6) Comparison with other books or sources if appropriate (7) Your conclusions about the book (8) You can rate the book with a number of stars out of 5, the highest rating possible. Be sure to put any quotes from the book in quotation marks and to cite any sources used, if necessary.

around the life of a teenager Hannah Beaker who committed suicide by taking pills. The story
is told through Clay Jensen a high school student who apparently has a crush on Hannah
Beaker a high school student at his school.
Jay Asher’s objective in his book the “Thirteen Reason Why” is to caution high school
students who are the teenagers against the acts of bullying as he shows through the book the
negative cost associated with continued bullying. One of them being suicide which Hannah
Beaker the protagonist in the book commits after being a victim of a continuous series of
bullying from her high school mates. The book has no selected audience as it has a lesson for
everyone regardless of their age but however, the book mainly appeals to the teenagers who
