Introduction

As a shift is being witnessed in how psychological interventions is perceived in the
treatment of mental disorders among the adult, it has been noted that the application of a broad
approach improves these interventions. Music therapy is one of the psychological intervention
which is fast growing in its application by psychiatrists. Michael J. Silverman authors the article
criticized in this paper and entitled "Quantitative Comparison of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
and Music Therapy Research: A Methodological Best-Practices Analysis to Guide Future
Investigation for Adult Psychiatric Patients”. The researcher, therefore, seeks to provide more
literature on the usefulness of music therapy in psychiatry; thus services provided to adults with
mental diseases will be evidence-based. In this paper a summary of the article, determination of
the research approach and ethical with a view of criticizing the strengths weaknesses in the study
towards answering the research question (Silverman, 2008).

The author in this article seeks to understand how other psychotherapy approaches manage
to accomplish their databases of literature to provide evidence-based services to patients with
