Case Study Scenario
Well, like I said on the phone, my living situation is, you know, kinda iffy. I never know
how my husband is gonna be when he comes home. Sometimes, he's okay, but other
times, well maybe not so good. I guess it's hard because, you know, I'm not able to get
around too good being in this wheelchair. Okay, so I like… you know, I got kinda lit and
drove the pickup into my neighbor's barn. Boy, you shoulda seen that mess! My legs
broke, and I didn't even feel it. My neighbor called the cops and the rest is history. Now,
I gotta do what the judge says to get my license back. My husband told me that he is
gonna throw me out if I don't stop drinkin. I told him that if he would stop roughin me up,
I wouldn't need to drink. My kids, they seen it all, my drinking, his hitting me, but they
never say nothing. I have to stay because, now, I can't drive, and he is being kinda nice
taking me to treatment and all. I don't know how long this'll last though.
Wait till he sees the medical bills from my accident; I bet he'll flip. We got no money and
now, we will have to deal with the hospital and court costs. On top of that, my kids- I
gotta girl, you know. She just started high school. She got herself a boyfriend and I think
that they’re having sex. I told her- no babies till she's at least 16. She does real good in
school though, so maybe she'll wait. My boy, he's only 7. Well, he's another story. The
school sent some letter telling us that they want to have a meeting with us. Something
about him being slow and not learning too good. I don't know, it's like all of this has me
thinking a lot, like I'm real sad. My brain doesn't seem right. I just kinda cry a lot and
well, probably I've said too much. What can you do for me?
