The population of a Midwest industrial town decreased from 211,000 to 207,000 in just 2 years. Assuming that this trend continues, what will the population be after an additional 5 years? the population will be about_______? (Do not round until the final answer. Then round to the nearest whole number needed.)

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Rate of decreasing population = (211000- 2O7000)/2

                                                       = 2000 per year

   Population after 5 years = 211000 - (5* 2000)

                                              = 201000

Regarding any doubt plz let me know

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.

Jul 22nd, 2015

Ok..method is correct I am checking calculation again... Wait

Jul 22nd, 2015

Sry.. Population after five years..

So...

207000 - 10000 = 197000

Jul 22nd, 2015

Sry.. Population after five years..

So...

207000 - 10000 = 197000

##understand

Jul 22nd, 2015

So, what if it was: The population of a Midwest industrial town decreased from 213,000 to 207,000 in just 3 years. Assuming that this trend continues, what will the population be after an additional 5 years? the population will be about_______? (Do not round until the final answer. Then round to the nearest whole number needed.)

Apple same concept....

Rate = 213000 - 2O7000 /2 = 3000

Then final population after 5 year =

207000 - (3000*5)  =192000

Jul 22nd, 2015

Sry....it's divided by 3

Jul 22nd, 2015

Sry....it's divided by 3

Final answer will be

213000- 207000 /3 = 2000

207000- 10000 = 197000

Same answer

Jul 22nd, 2015

how about using the exponential formula? i think thats what i need to use to get the answer required

Jul 22nd, 2015

hey its a very simple questions ...no need to make complicate

If you want I can use that formula also ..and give  your required answer

Jul 22nd, 2015
