-3x + 8y = 19 -----(2)

 

From equation (1)

-x = -3y + 7

Multiply both sides by -1

x = 3y - 7 ----(3)


Substitute x from equation (3) into equation (2)

-3(3y - 7) + 8y = 19

-9y + 21 + 8y = 19

-y = 19 - 21

-y = -2

Multiply both sides by -1

y = 2


Substitute value of y in equation (3)

x = 3*2 - 7

x = 6 - 7

x = -1


So, solution is x = -1 , y = 2
