a) glucose can sometimes act as a monomer.  When a bunch of molecules of glucose come together, they can form a long chain which is then known as glycogen (in humans) or starch (in plants).  This is the way in which we can store extra sugar in our bodies.

b) Proteins are polymers because they are made of smaller units called amino acids.  Amino acids bond together in a long chain and are the underlying blueprint that gives the protein it's properties.
