4x + 3y = 12 -----(2)


From equation (1)

y = 20 - 4x -----(3)


Substitute y from equation (3) into equation (2)

4x + 3(20 - 4x) = 12

4x + 3*20 - 3*4x = 12

4x + 60 - 12x = 12

-8x = 12 - 60

-8x = -48

x = (-48)/(-8)

x = 6


Substitute value of x in equation (3)

y = 20 - 4*6

y = 20 - 24

y = -4


So, solution is x = 6 , y = -4
