Question Description

Concerns in regards to possible ADHD is the most frequent cited reason parents bringing children/adolescents to therapy. Multiple studies have shown the overdiagnosis of boys and the underdiagnosis of girls with ADHD and the long-term effects this can have during adolescents and even possibly adulthood. Knowing how to diagnosis accurately and knowing appropriate interventions both at home and at school is essential when treating children/adolescents.

Intervention Location/Duration Reasoning Behind Intervention IEP (individualized education plan) or 504 plan School IEP is completed to place a child in special education and to give them the assistance they require within the classroom setting to be successful. A student can be placed in a special education classroom and/or they can have inclusion classes where they receive special accommodations within a normal classroom. The IEP should be specifically tailored towards the child.
