Groundwater recharging and storage in California is one of the state’s solutions to
additional water needs and an innovative tool to ensure sustainability in managing natural
resources. California uses much of the groundwater to satisfy the water needs. However, when
groundwater is used faster than it is replenished, there is need for management. Southern
California has projects that artificially recharge the groundwater aquifers. The artificial
management of recharging does not directly recharge the aquifers but enhances the rate of
