The Sociology of Globalization
By definition, globalization is the process in which businesses and exchange of products
gain influence in international markets. Markedly, there are various aspects that develop from the
impacts of globalization including, economic, political, and social influence. In regard to Mardi
Gras, various social impacts of globalization are well depicted from the video which generally
narrates the process of manufacturing and marketing of beads in the international markets. These
aspects include education, cultural diversity, and migration of people, conflicts, and inequality,
and the creation of employment to mention a few. This paper seeks to discuss the effects of the
social impacts (education, cultural diversity, and migration of people, conflicts and inequality,
and creation of employment) brought about in Bourbon Street of New Orleans, however, there
are various linked advantages and disadvantages of these impacts to both the locals and the
people outside the locality where the beads are manufactured.
Looking into the economic development and the creation of employment, the films show
that the young female workers strive to work for long hours to raise money for use in their rural
