The most important point in the article is the gap between the importance of conflict
management skills in organizations and the lack of focus on this in business education curricula.
The author’s study demonstrates the absence of focus on conflict management education in the
business curricula in both US-Universities and non-US Universities (Lang, 2009). This article is
important because it reveals that present undergraduate business and management curricula of
universities within and outside the US fail to echo the significance of conflict management skills.
The article established that whereas students are taught on key areas such as types of conflict and
its effects on team and decision making and among others, there remains a significant lack of
focus on conflict management education in the business and management curricula of American
and non-American universities.
Conflict management is critical not only in theory but practice. Conflict management
skills are essential for employees, senior managers, organizational teams and effective leadership
within organizations. In today’s constantly increasing team environment, managers are
increasingly spending more time resolving conflicts within their organizations. Because of the
