Describe the roles that formal systems and structures play in advancing change. Do you
feel your organization has a good grasp on these? Why or why not?
A formal structure is an entity or organization that has coordinated and controlled
activities with a specific set of rules that governs procedures and processes (Shafritz, Ott & Jang,
2015). These systems and structures play a role in advancing change through coordinating
numerous activities through accountability in responsibilities, and completion of tasks that
promotes organizational change. A company with formal processes and procedures are well
established and goal oriented. Another role is to create more teamwork cohesiveness, whereby
formal groups are monitored and motivated to achieve their objectives and aims hence advancing
process change in the company.
I believe that the organization has reached the two roles because of the integrated systems
in task management and delegation of responsibilities in every department. The organization has
ensured that all employees highly motivated by incentives like increment and bonuses in projects
and tasks. The company's focus on a logical relationship and unity to advance change in its
system is a fact which means it has grasped the two leading roles (Scott, 2015).
