Question Description

For this assignment, you will pick one, or two, of the HNAI readings from Week 3. Describe what archaeologists might find as remnants of the culture group you chose, what of their material culture is likely to survive in the archaeological record. How might archaeologists distinguish this culture group from others based on material remains? Describe specific types of artifacts and ecofacts you think would preserve, as well as features (or partial features), and site types.

All answers must be written in proper essay format using correct grammar, spelling, etc.

Essays should be a minimum of 700 words (2-3 pages, double-spaced).

In the Klamath-Modoc culture, there are several remnants that are likely to survive
archeological records. Some of the materials that have been found in the culture include rough
planks, mats, and frontal aprons among others. The culture had a unique way of building their
structures and that provides an easier way for the archeologists to differentiate them from other
groups. Some of the artifacts that would be preserved include Manos, pestles, mutates, stone
mortars wove baskets and tanned hides. On the other hand, there were Ecofacts such as
lodgepole pine and tree lichen. This paper focuses on the remains of Klamath-Modoc culture that
have high chances of surviving archaeological records.
