The Chinese and Guatemalan people have several beliefs concerning health practices.
Some are similar while others are varying. China has a large population with varying cultural
activities over a large geographical location. Majority of the Chinese population is comfortable
with the incorporation of the western health care beliefs into the traditional Chinese health care
system. The Chinese view health as discovering harmony in corresponding energies, for instance,
darkness and light, cold and hot. The forces are referred to as yin and yang. The traditional
medicine is based on the concept of everything being made of energy known as "qi" and that the
body is made up of composite systems of energy and matter (UMASS Medical school, 2019).
The Chinese believe that body illness is caused by both internal and external factors which
interfere with the body's normal processes. Herbal medicine is prevalent among the Chinese even
though they also apply Western medicine and knowledge (Hoyler, Martinez, Mehta, Nisonoff, &
