Define PM standards and metrics in context of the PMO.

In the context of PMO, standard refers to set of rules or measures that are meant to
ensure a sense of uniformity in the management of project. On the other hand, metrics refers
to quantifiable measures used for tracking, monitoring and assessing the success or failure of
a project. Metrics normally call for input of key stakeholders in a project regarding the
metrics that matter to them (Kerzner, 2017). The PMO has to define and agree on specific
metrics with the stakeholders for the purpose of demonstrating that it provides value for the
business. It is worth noting that project managers can create different project management
metrics based on the complexity and the objective of a project.
Type of PM standards needed
There are several types of standards in project management. The main standards that
