Introduction
Ross William Ulbricht was sued by the United States of America due to internet fraud
and cybercrime in his website. After the creation of the ‘Silk road website, Ulbricht allowed
anonymous buyers and sellers to log in the website to access goods and services (Bilton, 2017).
When the government of the United States learned of the illegal activities such as ordering
murder for hire and drug trafficking associated with the website, they initiated an investigation.
The anonymous buyers and sellers were alleged to be conducting these illegal activities after
their Internet protocol addresses were obtained. The payments were made through bitcoins in
order to protect the identity of the anonymous user in the Silk Road Website.
