Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
Resistant client behavior can be intimidating to some, i feel that silence from the client and a strong disagreement on any suggestions i give are the most intimidating to me. These are particularly difficult because they obstruct the natural progression of my job. My job is to help them realize they can change themselves, it is hard to do that when they show resilience and refuse to cooperate. It can make the entire experience very negative for both the client and the counselor. To deal with this, i plan on bringing in other parties if possible, a close relative or friend who can coax the client into sharing their problems and experiences. I can also try encouraging them to speak, as much as i can assuring that they have the power to change themselves. It is important that they know this, and that i am only a guide.
Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
