Reflection on Salam Neighbor Documentary
The film production companies; 1001 Media and Living on One Dollar released the
Salam Neighbor documentary in the year 2016. The title of this documentary "Salam" is an
Arabic name which means peace and it documents the experiences of Zach Ingrasci and Chris
Temple in Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan. The two filmmarkers lived among the eighty-five
thousands of Syrians in the camp for about a month. They were also allowed by the United
Nations to register and set-up a tent inside a refugee camp and become the first filmmakers to be
permitted. The main aim for these two filmmakers was to cover the world's most pressing crisis
of humanitarian as the United Nations Refugee Agency calls it.
The film starts by showing how Zach and Chris arrive and sets up camp in an
