Brad Walked to the shore. There he saw 4 rocks lying side to side. Resting on the rocks were crabs. each rock had 2 more crabs than the rock to its left. There were 56 crabs in all. From left to right, how many crabs were on each rock

Then,

x + x+2 + x + 4 + x + 6 = 56

4x + 12 = 56

4x = 44

x = 11

therefore there are

11 crabs on the 1st rock

13 crabs on the 2nd rock

15 crabs on the 3rd rock

17 crabs on the 4th rock
