SWOT Analysis on Stetson University
A SWOT analysis is a tool that helps in understanding the strengths and weaknesses, and
for also showing you the opportunities that are open for you with the threats you might face. In
this paper I am going to do a SWOT analysis on Stetson University. Below are the strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (Zarestky & Cole, 2017).
Internal university strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
•
Positive reputation in the external community. Most of the students in Stetson are
focussed a lot with the community engagement whereas some might remain in “Stetson
bubble.” This has created a good image to the society around.
•
There is positive experience with those students and people who have interacted with the
institution.
•
Proactive student support whereby many students access quality services, get
opportunities to be involved with the faculty, and student leadership programs.
•
The student body is diverse with abundance of culture radiating through the campus.
•
The campus is medium sized with small classes that bring interaction with students to be
so close.
•
Artistics and cultural performances most especially in concerts and exhibits.
•
The whole campus is involved in planning.
•
Staff and faculty greatly support the mission of Stetson campus
•
The place is friendly and safe. Students enjoy walking around the town of DeLand, parks
in Orlando and more enjoy the great wether of Florida.

Stetson is faced with fiscal uncertainty.

There is a highly competitive market for diverse faculty and staff.

Limited resources for faculty and developing the staff members.

The ability to distinguish qualities and identity is not yet known

There is difficulty in matching between research expectation and support that is being
offered.

Lack of a strong presence of the external community to help the university strive for
greater standards
