Shock is a serious health condition that occurs when the body is not getting enough flow
of blood. Shock can cause damage of organs. There are five major types of shock: cardiogenic
shock, hypovolemic shock, septic shock, neurogenic shock and anaphylactic shock. The table
provided below shows the pathophysiology, causes, signs and symptoms, nursing diagnosis,
intervention and patient teaching measures for prevention of each type of shock.
