The literature techniques used in the poem Dover Beach are meant to achieve the purpose
of the author. The poem Dover Beach that has been written by Matthew Arnold was one of the
best poems written and resonated with majority of people in 1851. When Matthew Arnold was
writing this poem, he got the inspiration from the two visits he made together with his wife to
south coast of France. The name Dover which is used as the title of the poem was derived from
the south coast of France Street for it is at this point the name stands. There is a perception by
many people that Matthew Arnold wrote Dover beach as a honeymoon poem but he denied this
claim. The perception was guided by the notion of the romantic, love and a nature of Victorian
