EEGR 211 – Introduction to Digital Logic

Lab 0

In this lab, students will explore the basic logic gates in order to determine the behavior of the logic gates. Each student must complete this lab independently.

Prior to coming to lab, watch the following video that will prepare for the lab.

             https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ynxg19lEkvg

? Logic Gates: For this lab, you will need a NOT gate, and one each of a two-input AND, OR, NOR and NAND integrated circuits. At the end of the lab, you should have measured five gates.

? Data sheet: Find the data sheet for each IC, as directed by your instructor.

? Using the voltage ranges indicated for VCC and ground, power the IC.

? Truth table: Apply the voltages indicated for VIH and VIL to the inputs of each gate to obtain the truth table for each IC.

? Apply different input combinations and measure the corresponding outputs (see examples below).
