Power and Leadership In Supervision
Reward leadership style is the best strategy in securing safe relationship between the
managers and the employees. It incorporates a friendly atmosphere where the hard-working
employees are recognized and rewarded for their effort. As much as the employees work for pay,
there is a need for synergy, motivation and positive reinforcement in the area of work (Wisse &
Sleebos, 2016). Reward leadership unlike other forms of power builds a friendly workplace,
which also enhance successful supervisory relationships. Supervision focuses on the completion
of tasks and the results. For example, employees in a factory can be tasked with the role of
completing production of 1000 bags of cement in a day. Employing reward leadership style is
necessary to motivate and convince the employees with the need to work harder and perfectly.
Coercive power significantly damages the relationship of supervisory roles since it
sometimes involves going against the employees will which demoralize them. It dramatically
limits job satisfaction levels of employees that can make them lose focus and result in low
