Digitization has slowly taken over our daily lives. This has continuously advanced with
advancement in technology. The mobile phone is an example of a digital device we use every
day. People can text message, call and access social media sites to enhance daily communication.
Currently, mobile phones have been classified as computers thus access to emails, digital data
and superb communicating. Moreover, digital TV has shown numerous advantages over analog
TV in the sense of data transmission. In terms of size, digital TVs are much compact and take
lesser space in the house. Digital tuners remove any interference of TV signals as they convert
sounds and images thus no distortion. HDTV is clearer and produces almost realistic pictures.
Other digital TVs are Wi-Fi enabled making them surfing devices.

The primary advantage of digital data over analog is that it has less bandwidth thus more data
can fit in the same frequency. Typically, this is why digital television has more channels
compared to analog ones. Digital is in discrete bits (ones to zeroes), a mere representation of the
real world but analog is a representation of light to dark or quiet to noisy. This makes it more
accurate, easy to transmit and easy to manipulate (Nemetallah & Williams, 2015).

What are some of the advantages of using digital codes when you are designing
digital systems? Provide examples that support your answer.

When designing digital systems such as DBMS, digital codes can be transmitted digitally
without degradation due to factors such as noise. For example, the continuous audio signal can
be transmitted in sequences of 1s and 0s. Programming can be easy because it simply involves
changing the program instead of hardware change or addition. Lastly, the use of digital codes
reduces hardware costs. The number of ICs that can be placed in the area of silicon has
increased.

How can logic gates make electronic designs more efficient?

Ideally, the logic gate is a physical device implementing a Boolean function that performs the
logic operation in many inputs to produce a single binary input depending on the scenario. They
are implemented using transistors using items such as electronic relays, vacuum tubes, and optics
to act as electronic switches. Systems become more efficient by including a physical model of
Boolean logic cascaded to include mathematics and algorithms. They can, therefore, produce
complex logic functions with higher speed, less density, and less power.

What practical application results from the operation of logic gates and how is this
application beneficial to society?

A rational door like a doorbell is a good example of OR and AND gates since the electronic
